Portsmouth was awarded $1.2 million from the Department of Housing and Urban Development. The following non-profit organizations will receive funding to operate their programs supporting homelessness:
Oasis Opportunity Center - $252,949
Portsmouth Volunteers for the Homeless Outreach Service Center - $55,650
P.A.R.C. Single Adult Barrier Reducation program - $194,958
P.A.R.C. Step Up To Responsibility program - $122,421
Portsmouth Christian Outreach Ministries transitional housing - $79,309
The celebration for the 2008 Portsmouth First Citizen, Albert J. Taylor, Jr., is scheduled for Monday, April 27, 2009, 6:30 p.m. at the Portsmouth Renaissance Hotel and Conference Center.
