IT'S A WIN WIN!
GIVING WITH AN IRA
THE LATEST ON GIVING WITH YOUR I.R.A.

Bills have been introduced in both Houses of Congress that extend the Pension Protection Act of 2006 and its opportunity for those 70 1/2 and older to make distributions from their IRA directly to a qualitifed charity and avoid the income tax that is normally be imposed on IRA distribtuions.

If you're not 70 1/2, you can still give with your IRA. You should take the distribution from your IRA to yourself, claim it as income, donate it, and then claim it as a charitable donation.

HAVE YOU INCLUDED US IN YOUR ESTATE PLAN?

Don't forget, you can name The Portsmouth Community Foundation as the remainder beneficiary of your IRA and take distributions for the rest of your life. What's left after you're gone would come to The Portsmouth Community Foundation. We won't get anything until after your're gone, and your heirs won't have to pay estate and inheritance tax on it if you leave it to them.
